Meets 101

The season begins with Time Trials. This is a Practice Swim Meet where all swimmers are timed in each stroke, if he/she can swim it ‘legally.’ We have 5 “A” meets scheduled, 4 ”B” meets scheduled, 1 Individual Medley Invitational meet, 1 Relay Carnival Meet, a Divisional Meet, and Relay and Individual All Star meets. Please see the swim season calendar for specific details.

Participation in “A” meets will be based solely upon official times established under meet conditions either in Time Trials, an “A” meet, or a “B” meet.

Teams are allowed to enter three swimmers in each event at “A” meets. However, swimmers may participate in no more than two individual events per meet. Every attempt is made to place the three fastest swimmers in each event. Due to restrictions on the number of events an individual may swim, and the need to place swimmers according to the strengths of the opposing teams, the coaches, in consultation with the Team Rep will decide where to place the swimmers. The Team Rep will have the final decision on the meet entries. All concerns must be referred to the Team Rep.

More Meet Info

Everyone wants their children to perform their best during meets. To prevent children from exhausting themselves before a meet, parents should restrict their children’s playtime at the pool on Fridays before an “A” meet and Mondays before a “B” meet.

Swimmers will be notified by Thursday afternoon if he/she will be scheduled for the upcoming Saturday “A” meet. Please confirm attendance as requested.

Swimmers will consult with the coaches to choose the events that they will be swimming at the “B” meets.

All swimmers are encouraged to swim all four strokes in competition during the swim season. This can be done during “A” and/or “B” meets.

“A” meets begin at 9 a.m. sharp. If we are hosting the “A” meet, our swimmers need to be at Mansion House Club by 7:50 a.m. to be ready to warm up in the water at 8 a.m. If we are the visiting swim team, then the swimmers need to be at the host pool by 8:00 to be ready to warm up at 8:15 a.m., we will meet at Mansion House Club at 6:45 a.m. caravan to leave at 7:00 a.m.

“B” meets begin at 6 p.m. and last about 3 hours. If we are hosting the meet at Mansion House Club, the swimmers must be at Mansion House by 4:50 p.m. If we are visiting another pool, the swimmers should be at that pool by 5:15 p.m. This will allow for enough time to settle in and warm up.  Swimmers may leave a B Meet after their last swim, but must notify the coaching staff.  Parents/guardians should work with coaching staff for a safe hand off from the team area.

“A” meets begin at 9 a.m. and usually end about 11:30 a.m.  If we are hosting the Piranha Café is open for concession AFTER your swimmer is finished.  If we are visiting the team will have lunch together at local restaurant.  (We will do our best to visit establishments that are also our sponsors)  WE ENCOURAGE OUR TEAM TO EAT HEALTHY BEFORE AND DURNING MEETS.

Teams are assigned to a team area at the host pool. Swimmers are expected to remain in the team area under the direction of a coach and Jr Coaches for the duration of the meet. Parents are asked to stay out of the team area if possible.
