Calling Junior Coach Applicants!

MHC Swim Team is accepting applications for Junior Coaches for our Winter Swim Program! Applicants must be 15 years old or older prior to the first practice on September 10, 2023. Applications are due NO LATER THAN 11:59 pm on September 3, 2023. Please send applications electronically to [email protected].

Practices will be on Sunday evenings from 7:00pm-8:00pm at the GW Rec Center. Junior coaches should expect to be in the water with swimmers at each practice. Practices run each Sunday starting on September 10, 2023 until May 19, 2023. (no practice on the following dates: 11/26, 12/24, 12/31, 2/11, 3/31, and 5/12). Coaches will likely not work every Sunday.

Swimmers who are currently 14 and hoping to coach next summer season are HIGHLY encouraged to volunteer as helpers for our youngest swimmers to gain experience. We expect many applicants for Junior Coach next summer and will be prioritizing experience and demonstrated effort to gain experience. Similarly, 15-year-olds who plan to apply next year are highly encouraged to apply to coach for the winter. (*Please note that a lifeguard certification is not required for junior coaches for winter swim but WILL be required for junior coaches next summer). Experience is key to successful coaching!

Questions? Have a 14-year-old who wants to volunteer? Let us know!

  • Coached by: Our very own Coach Joel + a rotating cohort of Mansion House junior coaches.
  • Starting: Practices begin Sunday September 11 and run almost every Sunday through May 21, 2023.
  • Cost: $395 for the first swimmer per family, $295 for the second swimmer, $245 each for any additional swimmers. (This breaks down to less than $12 a session, which is a steal.)
  • Registration: Open NOW - don't wait! Register here.
  • Size: Space is limited and capped at 50 swimmers (to avoid overcrowding lanes).
  • Membership: Priority will be given to MHC members until September 1. After September 1 we will open registration to non-pool members.
  • Bring: Swimmers need a competition style suit (one piece for girls, ideally jammers for boys but do your best), towel, 2 pairs of goggles, fins, and their own kickboard. EVERY WEEK. We cannot borrow gear from the rec center.
  • Need new gear? Shop here and support the team! Mansion House Club Piranhas - SwimOutlet.com
  • No swim dates: 11/27, 12/25, 1/1, 4/9. We also typically take off for Super Bowl Sunday and Mother's Day.
