Joel DeSatnick Head Coach

Hi Piranha families! I am looking forward to returning for yet another swim season!! Just a little about myself: I was born and raised in Alexandria and currently live here. I attended George Mason University for my Health and P.E. undergraduate degree and then continued with my education at the University of Virginia, where I received my Masters in Kinesiology for Individuals with Disabilities. Currently, I am a P.E. teacher at Hybla Valley Elementary School and love to teach students how to be life-long movers while exposing them to many sports and activities that can help them stay active.

Hobbies and interests include but are not limited to: playing and listening to music (mainly guitar), watching and playing a variety of sports (GO PATS), and exploring new places.

I started swimming when I was seven years old with the Hayfield Farm Seahawks and continued for the next 12 years. In addition to summer swim, I also swam with NCAP for 7 years, Hayfield Secondary (my high school) for 4 years, and the George Mason varsity swim team for 2 years while competing in meets such as States, NCSA Junior Nationals, and Atlantic 10 Conferences.

In regard to my coaching experience: I coached in the NVSL with Hayfield Farms for 7 years as an assistant coach, and with Highland Park for 2 summers as a head coach. I have been the head coach for THE Mansion House Piranhas since the summer of 2018 and cannot be more excited to come back!!! Outside of NVSL, I have also coached at the club level with NCAP for the last 8 years on and have provided private lessons for swimmers of all ages and skill levels.

Throughout my swimming experiences, I find summer swim to be the most enjoyable. My goal is to create a fun and rewarding atmosphere for everyone as we work to accomplish goals as individuals and a team. Can’t wait to see you all on deck!!!

Graham
Graham Jewett Assistant Head Coach

Hi y’all! My name is Graham Jewett and I am super excited to be back at MHC as Assistant Coach this year. I’ve been around at Mansion House for a while; I started swimming as a Little Piranha when I was 4 years old and continued until I was 18, swimming in the winters with FBST and Episcopal High School. I was a Junior Coach for 3 years and this winter I coached for the Potomac Marlins. I’m a Junior in college studying to get my Masters in Occupational Therapy, so I love helping swimmers overcome unique challenges and feel stronger in and out of the pool. Outside of swim, I love to rock climb, camp, and hike with my rescue dog Miles. My favorite part about summer swim is how it encourages swimmers to see their value not only as competitors but also as teammates, and I’m so excited to bring back some of the fun traditions I remember from my time at Mansion House. See y’all soon!
