Piranha Nation, hello and welcome to the start of the Summer 2026 season! We are very excited to kick things off this Friday (5/29) at Mansion House!

Friday May 29

• Sport Fair, our gear supplier, will be at the pool from 5:00 to 7:00pm (rain or shine) with team suits, goggles, and more. Swimmers may try on and purchase suits at this time. (For those who can't be there Friday, Sport Fair will be back during Time Trials, on Saturday, June 13.
• Meet the coaches at 6:00 pm! Come out and say hello to head coach Joel, assistant coach Graham and our amazing junior coaches!
• At 7:00 pm, please join us on the back deck for a parent meeting (swimmers may attend but are not required to). Here, we'll introduce the coaching staff and team reps, give an overview of practices and meet schedules, touch on volunteer opportunities and needs, and field any questions you may have. NOTE that Little Piranha parents may attend this meeting, but we will hold a separate meeting specifically for LP parents next week on June 3 in the same location.
• Back this year! We have ordered special fan t-shirts that will be for sale starting on Friday at the parent meeting. Adult sizes only. $20 each or 2 for $30. We will also have them at time trials and at concessions while supplies last!

Practice

• After school practices begin Monday June 1; for specific age group times, please refer to the practice schedule here. While you are there, please also declare your swimmer(s)’ availability for time trials and meets and choose your volunteer slots HERE!
• Practice after school Monday June 1 - Friday June 19

• 13+: 4:00-5:00pm
• 9-12: 5:00-6:00pm
• 8 and under: 5:45-6:30pm
• No LPs practice yet

• Please remember that 8 and under swimmers may not be dropped off for practice without a caregiver. Older siblings must be 13+ to qualify as a supervisor for younger siblings. This is for your swimmer(s) safety. For older swimmer(s) please use your judgment about whether you should drop off or stay.
• Little P evals - if you have NOT already had your swimmer evaluated, we will hold another session on Wednesday June 3 from 6-6:30 pm followed by our little P parent meeting at 6:30 pm

Other Stuff

• Officials training: NVSLU May 30. The NVSL will be holding a whole slew of officials training clinics. We have EXTREMELY limited numbers of Stroke and Turn judges who are currently certified and able to work this summer. So we need your help!! We are also very limited on qualified starters. Please note that to be a starter you must also have a current Stroke and Turn certification. If you are willing and available, you can get trained as an on-deck official, data coordinator, etc. All details available at Welcome to the Northern Virginia Swimming League We can’t run meets without officials! So please consider getting trained.
• An informal gear swap will be held during practices until Time Trials. Any gear that your swimmer(s) have outgrown can be brought to the swap. This can be a great chance to pick up gently used boys & girls practice suits, previous year team suits, fins, MHC t-shirts, and more, especially for younger swimmers. NOTE that you don't need to donate gear to take gear home!
