Volunteers Officials Training - 2019
Piranha Parents,
Welcome to another season of swim, sun and fun. This is our initial call for volunteers to get training. Anyone going to a training will get 5 free guest passes for each training they attend. NVSL training begins this Saturday, June 1, bright and early at 8am at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Pkwy, Fairfax. You need to be there a little early to check which room each of the trainings are in, information attached. Then there are other scattered training events throughout the month of June for the different positions.
As discussed at last evening's parents meeting, it takes a village to run a swim meet. In total there are almost 40 volunteers needed for each meet. Most of these volunteer positions do not require any specific training by NVSL, but some do. And those are the ones we are most in need of right now. Positions that require training are:
1. Stroke and Turn Judges - you watch the swimmers closely and determine if they are swimming each stroke legally - some of the best seats in the house to see your kids swim by the way - there is training at the Government Center this Saturday, and then, if you can't make that one, there is another stroke and turn training on June 8 at 8am at Waynewood Pool - please consider being a stroke and turn judge, we need you!
2. Starters - you get to use a microphone and say "take your marks", it's fun, and again, great seat for watching your kids swim
3. Referees - if you are new to this, you need to do the starter training first, and then best would be for you to shadow one of our accomplished refs this summer to learn the ropes - so, if you want to be a ref, take the starter training this summer
Information about the NVSL training is attached. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of the swim reps.
We need you this summer to make swim season successful. We cannot do it without you. Please, attend training and help us out.
P4L,
Your Swim Team Reps
