8th Annual Jim Shlesinger Memorial Scholarship
Hello Piranha Parents,
8th Annual Jim Shlesinger Memorial Scholarship
Once again, this year, J&M Swim/National Capital Swim Club (NCAP) is generously offering a year-round full scholarship to a Mansion House swimmer who would like to participate in the J&M Swim program. As you know, many of our swimmers take advantage of J&M Swim/NCAP’s year-round program to work on improving their strokes, learning to compete and conditioning. (For more information about the J&MSwim or NCAP swim program, please visit www.JandMswim.com ).
The scholarship recipient cannot have been a NCAP Swimmer within the past 3 years (2017 forward) nor have received this award in the past. 8 years and older swimmer can apply. The candidate would make a minimum two-day a week commitment to swim in one of the USA swimming competitive programs (if the swimmer is over 11 years old, morning swim practices are preferred, but not required).
The attached Application consists of:
- Swimmer’s name, age, school, and number of years swimming
- On a separate page, please write an essay of approximately 250 words on the topic: “What competitive swimming means to me, and where I would like the sport to take me in life.” Handwritten is preferred – please leave the child’s name off the essay portion!
- Parents may assist with grammar and spelling, but the essay must be written by the swimmer.
- Application should be signed and dated by the candidate. Please include email address.
- Application deadline is July 1,2021 – by noon.
- Original and two copies should be submitted to the Team Representatives. Or email your packet to [email protected]
You will receive a confirmation by email that the application has been received. The scholarship applications will then be passed to an objective panel of parents who are not related to the applicants. After being reviewed, a recipient will be chosen and notified at the banquet.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
