Week #7
Week #7 is here. Once again it is a very busy week with lots of activities.
July 12 - B Meet – MHC @ Waynewood at 6pm (Showtime 5:15)
Talk to Coach Paul in the morning to see what strokes you will be swimming. (Reminder if you placed 1, 2 or 3 in the A Meet you are not allowed to swim that stroke.)
Bottom Line Up Front: If you are unvaccinated and on Deck, You will need to wear a mask. Masks are not needed in our team area but will be for unvaccinated parents or swimmers in the Clerk of course and walking to the blocks. Bring a sandwich size ziploc bag
Spectators WILL BE OUTSIDE THE FENCE LOOKING IN. IF YOU WANT TO BE INSIDE VOLUNTEER NOW !!!!
MHC will NOT be Swimming IMs tomorrow we, as a team, swimmers, coaching and volunteers will be done after FLY. There will be a short pause in the meet where we will leave and Waynewood may elect to continue with IMs if they so choose. If you have any questions about this address them to Jeff Dominski.
The Following is from Waynewood:
We're
looking forward to hosting your team on Monday. As you might imagine, there are
some differences this year for us so we figured we'd share our plan to start
the conversation. Before jumping into setup details, we'd love to try and swim
IMs on Monday. Let us know if you're not up for a later evening.
- Setup -- Attached is a pdf of our setup plan. We're limiting
our pool deck to necessary volunteers and will have both spectators and teams
outside our fence. We'll bring groups of swimmers into the clerk area before
their heats and they'll exit from a different gate than where they came in.
Please have your swimmers report to their team area rather than the pool deck.
- Volunteers -- As we're managing access to the deck this
season, we'd ask that you send us a list of volunteers who will need deck
access (so timers, clerks, tables, marshals, judges, team reps). We'd ask
you to provide the standard visiting team set of
volunteers. We're also okay if you have some extra positions
like a photographer or trainees who you'd like to have deck access. We can work
with you to add people to our list for deck access as necessary but getting a
robust list in advance will help us as we plan to hand out name tags.
- Spectators -- All spectators (including Waynewood parents)
will watch the meet from our field outside the fence and we're asking everyone
to make an effort to socially distance. We aren't providing chairs for
spectators so please have your families bring blankets or lawn chairs. We'll be
able to make accommodations for ADA needs.
- Masks -- Our policy has embraced the 6/6 guidelines
promulgated by NVSL. Our policy is masks optional for fully vaccinated
individuals (two weeks since second/final dose). For all swimmers, volunteers,
officials, coaches who have not been vaccinated we ask that they wear a mask at
all times (except while swimming, eating, or drinking) at the event. In
particular for all swimmers in the 10 & under age groups, we ask for 100%
mask wearing on our pool deck/clerk area for warm-ups or heats. For swimming,
we'll have pins on the fence (and a walkable board to hang them on prior to 25m
swims) for swimmers to hang their mask on immediately before swimming (and we
can discuss other solutions like bags if that is prefered by your team).
- Concessions -- It'll be a more modest offering on a table outside our fence this year but we'll have cold drinks, snacks, and Chick-fil-A sandwiches for sale.
- Bathrooms -- For spectators and those outside the fence, they'll need to go around to the front of our pool house and enter from the outside. For those working on deck, they'll use the "family" restroom. We'd ask that bathrooms/locker use be limited to essential needs.
Mansion House warm-ups will start at 5:30 for a 6pm start. We will reserve our
parking lot for MHC cars. If there are no spots left in the lot, please feel
free to park along Waynewood Boulevard and on side streets.
July 13 - Team breakfast- Ice Cream Social
Ice Cream for Breakfast. This is a fan favorite. Ice Cream will be provided and we ask each swimmer attending practice to bring a topping. Chocolate, marshmallows, gummy worms, oreos, if you like it and you think it goes with ice cream bring it.
July 15 - Lollipop Invitational Mini Meet (8U and Lil Ps): @ MHC
Show up at 9 am, Warm-ups we will have some pool familiarization for the little ones and get them settled. This year it will only be the Little Ps Swimming. The other pools we invited have declined. Older Swimmers are invited to hang around after their practice to help set up and run the meet. This is the BIG MEET for the 8U and Lil Ps – It’s all about them. Please plan on attending if you have one of these guys.
July 16 – Happy Hour @ MHC at 6:00pm – (Theme: Decades)
July 17 -5th NVSL Dual/A Meet: MHC @ Cottontail at 9:00am (Caravan leaves at 7:30am)
The meet will be seeded on Tuesday – please make sure you have your designation of available or unavailable for Saturday and Monday completed.
July 18th - 13 & Up Progressive Dinner - Email went out – please RSVP and sign up to volunteer.
Bowling: We are attempting to set up a bowling day. Once we get final confirmation from the venue we will pass that along. TBD

8th Annual Jim Schlesinger Memorial Scholarship – Deadline to submit is JULY 19 at noon.
A Look ahead to next week.
Friday June 23rd – We need parents to come to MHC to volunteer 1-2 hours of their time to get the pool ready for Divisionals the next day. Clean up the place, early set up. We will start at 8:00 and go until we are done.
Saturday June 24th – Divisionals: We are hosting. We will need lots of volunteers. Concessions will be huge, Parking lot attendants. Even if you don’t have Swimmers in the Meet (more on that later) we need your help. SIGN UP NOW
